About Maarten

Maarten is a composer from The Netherlands, best known for his adventurous film scores and immersive concert works. He also composed the scores for numerous animation films.

Maarten’s adventurous orchestral score for The Seven of Daran: The Battle of Pareo received a Dutch Golden Calf nomination for Best Music.

Maarten’s composition Thurémin for choir, strings and organ has proven a popular work and has been performed my numerous music ensembles across the globe, particularly in the United States.

Maarten also wrote the cosmic work To Vega and Back, originally commissioned by the Gelders Fanfare Orchestra. This piece has been performed in different arrangements by a variety of ensembles at concerts and competitions. Maarten's cinematic Tango de La Venganza, originally recorded with bandoneon player Carel Kraayenhof, was arranged and performed by the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. On a regular basis, Maarten also arranges existing music for the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble.

Maarten is the creative director of ProjectSAM Cinematic Sampling, a developer of virtual instruments for the professional scoring industry. ProjectSAM's sounds are used world-wide and can be heard in the biggest films, television shows and video games.
